“Cooking is about all the people around the world and everybody loves to cook. No matter which religion, profession, caste or language, it is a true fact that all people around the world eat together.”

Favourite Hobby:

‘What does the word hobby mean?’ Honestly, I would say that an activity or interest one pursues for his/her own pleasure is called hobby. It can be anything ranging from reading books, spending time with your pets, cooking food, travelling around, talking to new people, gardening and just anything which gives immense pleasure to the person and relives him/her of the tensions of the daily life. Many people choose reading books as their favourite hobby because it is quite common in today’s world. In my opinion, cooking is very useful in everybody’s life, so cooking is my best hobby. Cooking is my hobby and it has been my most favourite hobby since my childhood. It gives me immense pleasure when I cook food for others. When, I was a kid, I used to help my mom in the kitchen, household work like cleaning, washing clothes and dishes etc. Then, I slowly developed my interest in cooking and also tried my hand in preparing dishes, meals etc and each time I cook food by myself, it turns out that I am quite good at cooking. So, cooking is my most favourite and passionate hobby which I love to do.
As I had already mentioned before, my favourite hobby is cooking and my ambition is to is to become a well-known chef of India. I love to cook homemade meals because they are healthy, easily digestible, less fattening, and so nutritious to eat. We can achieve anything in life by selfless devotion, passion and love to that particular profession we are undertaking in our lives. Same is the case with cooking, it requires a lot of hard-work, effort, devotion and most importantly, love which makes the food tasty for other people to eat.

Existing Situation of the Society:

Do you know who is the greatest chief whom we seen face-to-face in our lives? Yes, it’s our own mother who cooks the tastiest food more than any other popular chef of this world. Women’s contribution to the household work did not fetch any monetary reward and therefore, it never got its status and value. Think about your own mother, what all traditional roles do they do at home, how they prepare food at the right time so that the family members don’t go hungry, wash clothes and dishes. Just think, if women didn’t do the household work like cooking food, the work would then be divided amongst three or four people and it would cost a lot of money. But still, the care and love would be missing in their work. Women’s work is not easy but as it is happening endlessly over and has become the norm, many people do not realise it’s worth. So men should also appreciate women more and should also take part in cooking food, cleaning and washing clothes as it is not women’s duty alone. Therefore, it is clear that cooking is not only for women but also for men and we should appreciate women more because of the effort they are taking to prepare these delicious food. Each and every ingredient present in the food has to be blended with love to make it look delicious. In my childhood days, I used to watch my parents cooking in the kitchen, helping each other with the household work like cleaning, mopping etc which also taught me good moral values, that is, helping one another in times of trouble. Actually, it was my parents who were good role models who developed my passion in cooking. I was very fond of watching various cookery shows like ‘Masterchef Australia’, ‘Masterchef India’ where I first learnt how to cook in the way the chefs used to cook. I used to cook the same dishes at home for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner and my parents always appreciated me, even for my failed attempts,so that I could make it better the next time. I also enjoyed reading various cookery books from my childhood. Some of the cookery books I enjoy reading are as follows: ‘The Flavour Bible’, ‘Mastering The Art of French Cooking’, ‘The Big Fat Duck Cookbook’ and ‘The Professional Chef’. Among all of them, the book which I liked the most was ‘The Professional Chef’ because the book was an excellent source of fundamental techniques that every cook should know about . In addition that it is an excellent guide, it has almost 1000 recipes that cover contemporary and classical recipes used today. It also gives most of the chefs a quick recap of the recipes in case, if they forget about it. No kitchen is complete without its own books which is often referred as ‘the Bible’ by many professional chefs across the world. I also have a rich collection of such kinds of cookery books which not only gives me knowledge about the various recipes, but also helps me in cooking various Italian and French food that I have not cooked before. I recommend my favourite cookery book ‘The Professional Chef’ written and published by the Culinary Institute of America as the best book for all those who wish to become a professional chef in the future.

How to become like a professional chef in real life:

It is a true saying that “A Recipe has no soul but you as a cook must bring the soul to the recipe.” Similarly, to become like a professional chef, one should first learn to have the passion and selfless devotion towards the hobby that we undertake in our lives. After that only, should he go for professional courses in the field of cooking. He should be experienced to a professional kitchen where there would be many advanced tools, equipment for cooking etc. Aspiring chefs may pursue formal training through various culinary programs offered by different community colleges, universities and culinary institutes. Some chefs complete certificate programs that typically last only a few months, while others earn 2-year associate’s or 4-year bachelor’s degrees. Culinary programs focus on various principles of cooking food like in-class instruction and hands-on training in the kitchen. Courses commonly include safety and sanitation whole cooking in the kitchen, baking and cooking techniques, food preparation and nutrition. Depending on the program, students may be required to complete the various internship programs. Alternatively, potential chefs could also obtain their culinary knowledge through formal apprenticeships, which combine hands-on training with classroom education. Culinary schools and food-industry organizations, such as the American Culinary Federation (ACF), sponsor various apprenticeships. Apprenticeship opportunities may also be available through unions affiliated with the U.S. Department of Labour. Being a chef is not just a profession that we undertake in our lives instead,it is the love and respect that you give to your hobby:cooking. We might have seen many people taking up a profession in life like doctors, nurses, engineers just to gain some money, but it is not for their personal satisfaction in that particular career that they are taking in their lives. It shouldn’t be like that, instead we should work for our joy, happiness and the job that we desire the most in our lives. Only then, can we succeed in the career and be happy and content with what we have and also spare something for those in need of it. Nothing would be impossible for us if we have the passion, love and dedication to our professions. The famous saint, Guru Nanak has set us a great example that everybody is equal in the sight of God, there is no rich, poor, male, female, black or white. There is only difference between people in their own actions, thoughts, words and deeds. So, let us be better humans and serve others with love and care. Guru Nanak has also set up the famous Guru Ka Langar where people everywhere irrespective of their religion, caste could eat together. My ambition is to become a very popular chef like Mr. Sanjeev Kapoor, who is a well-known Indian Chef and a businessman. His most famous TV show ‘Khana Kazna’ is the longest cookery show in Asia for last 18 years. I am planning to take up my professional courses on cooking in various institutions all over the world and also start a restaurant to serve free food to the poor and needy in the future. I find my joy and happiness in cooking food and serve others with dignity and respect. For the famous saint, Swami Vivekananda has first said that “Service to mankind is the service to God.” So, we should all serve others with dignity, love, respect and this is what everybody should learn in their lives. No matter which profession we are taking in our lives, and in whichever high position we are, if we don’t treat others with dignity and respect, our lives are completely meaningless to us and also to others. So, let’s earn our lives with honest means and hard-work and also help those in need of things like food to eat, clothes to wear, and pure water to drink because the famous Guru Nanak has set a great example for all of us to work hard to serve others and be simple and honest in your daily life. Let’s be better humans of the Society and serve others to the fullest to what it means to be in the right way.

Now as to conclude, I would like to say that having a hobby that we enjoy doing brings us joy and advances our lives. It gives us something enjoyable to do amid our recreation time and gives us the chance to learn new and more aptitudes. We are exceptionally lucky to have such a large number of various choices out there today. Actually, there are whole sites committed to diversions and interests.
The most ideal approach to developing another hobby is to take a stab at something new. The world is loaded with magnificent, energizing exercises that we can investigate and embrace as our own. Obviously, we all are one of a kind and, accordingly, our interests and leisure activities change. In any case, when we discover an interest that we really appreciate and are enthusiastic about, we end up snared. It turns out to be a piece of our lives and encourages us in an exceptionally close to home way. Last, but not the least, a hobby help us live our dreams which usually get ignored due to our busy lives.
The End
