For The First Time…..

Lonely on the road I stood,
For the first time,
Seeking my way through the woods.

Dimness of the moon shone,
On my frightened face,
As I heard a magical tone,
Pulling my ears at a slow pace.

Mellifluous was its voice,
As I marked a footprint trail,
To gaze at an attractive poise,
Of a blue-green nightingale,
For the first time.

Slender was its beak,
Invisible was its feet,
As it sat plump,
On a tree’s branchy peak,
Embracing me with a musical treat,
For the first time.

Oh my!!
The cool ambiance of the night,
Misty leaves glistening in the light,
Admiring the heavenly bird’s might,
Was far better than a life tight.

For the first time,
I treasured darkness,
As I was thrown by its beauty.

For the first time,
I glimpsed wonders in wonders,
Sensed serenity in serenity,
To realize how small I stand,
Amidst the whole universe.
To regret the guilt of neglect and ignorance,
To grieve in my sin,
Of burying these gems,
Under greed and avarice.
And to humiliate them,
In the name of civilization.

If every one of my race,
Adored something like this,
I refuse to imagine the miracles and tranquil,
We would be experiencing,
The very first time!!!

  1. The poet has captured the essence of the dark. She had expressed her views of the “nightfall” in a beguiling manner. It has captured my eyes as well as my perception.Sitting on my posterior and quarantined has made me lose the tranquility of nature but this poem had me reclaim it.

  2. Oh my little friend you have grown as a poet !!! Still remember those days you were not speaking to me and I used to irritate you….
days and years are flying… read more and write more.

  3. Your poem gives a different perspective to see the darkness and takes us to a moment where we should appreciate the calmness and simplicity around !
