_M S Dhoni

Keerthana Manasswini S pens down her thoughts as an essay, moreover a tribute to M S Dhoni- her Untold Inspiration.

The excellency at birth, on 7 July 1981 was the emperor of cricket’s first cry at the city of Ranchi, Jharkhand. With whistles as a chorus, he enters as a lion into his battle, M S Dhoni, each and every passionate soul’s inspiration. His eyes could be read which spells out his goal and yearn to win the match for his team with just 2 of his helicopter shots. Starting off his journey at a tender age at his school cricket team, he was first in love with football and later he started to play cricket. With all the opposition he had from his father not to play cricket and concentrate on exams, he came through them by convincing his father and confessing to him, his love towards his dreams.

Rushing to the exam hall, finishing his 2 hours exam in about 45 mins and rushing to catch the train to his training was not just a routine but the pathway he patched to the door of success. ‘Besabriyaan’ the track from M S Dhoni- The Untold Story [biography film of M S Dhoni] by Armaan Malik was the most relatable song I could find to inspire me. Later, after playing through railways, he finally received his jersey to play for the Indian Team in an International match against Pakistan in 2004. So did the fortune begin, by 3 years of time he became the captain and Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award he received followed by Padma Shri along with ICC Player of the year in 2009. In 6 years of time from his debut, joining hands with his wife, Sakshi Dhoni, 2010 stated:  “2010 was very great for the Indian team as one of the players topped the ICC number 1 ODI rankings. DHONI holds the record of the fastest top-ranked ODI batsman in the ICC rankings”.

Captain Cool was always a person who came into the ground for his own dreams and not for making money out of his happiness, indeed happiness is something which cannot be bought with money. He went on acting advertisement shoots and stuff, they were not on his expectations list before, but they were just called “motivations on the queue”. After  ICC award of spirit in Cricket and CNN-IBN Indian of the year in Sports by 2011, LG People’s Choice Award in 2013, ICC team of the year he got to his county in 2014 having 2013,2012,2011 and 2010 as history. Finally, the list of honour, pleasure, journey of struggles, obstacles and success comes to an end, leaving his captaincy by 2017, the next year he received Padma Bhushan.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni, aka Captain Cool, Thala[leader in tamil, praised by CSK fans], Helicopter shooter and a lot more, is really a close to heart personality. CSK[Chennai Super Kings] is not only loved by the people from Chennai but also people all over India, just for the jersey number 7. Rather than connecting with him as a fan, many of them connect with him  as their brother, mentor and inspiration and so do I. With all the victories on the list- World Cup, T20, Tests.etc, he left his fans to miss him from international cricket on 15th of August 2020, on India’s 74th Independence day, he announced his retirement. On a temporary period, he promulgated on his social media saying he would be playing for CSK in IPL[Indian Premier League]. Instagram, Facebook, Whatsapp, Messenger, Twitter and Sanpchat’s[P.S: that is the end of the social media list I know] profiles, postes, stories, reels, IGTV and everything just showed the longing of the fans of Captain Cool if he would ever come back again, though we are educated and we know the definition of retirement. Always, we never care who we are when it comes to Dhoni, because being his fan is an emotion.

He did not just create history, but he created a motivation in almost all of us to achieve more and more in life.
